Jim Pinneke was born August 24, 1957. His parents are Lawrence and Merna Pinneke. He was joined by a brother, Michael, in 1959 and a sister Julie, in 1961.
School brought many friendships. He seldom singled out an individual as his
friend but included everyone as my friends."
Jim enjoyed life. He worked on the farm and could be seen dancing on the hay rack between Loading bales of hay. He was president of his 4 Hclub and president of the county 4-H. He enjoyed his pony and later mopeds, motoroycles, and his car.
Jim played the trombone in band from 5th to Uth grade and chose to enter the vocal department as a senior.
He started playing football in high school as a sophomore. He was a running
back, and his family was told he ran as if he had "wings on his feet."
September 10, 1974 Jim was about to leave for school but stopped at the door.
When asked if he needed something he said, "no, I was just looking at you." Jim died that afternoon in Garner as the team practiced football. He was tackled and never got up. It was later determined to be heart related.
It was at this time the number "25" for football was retired. The request of the football team to name the new football field "Pinneke Field" in Jim's memory was honored by the Garner-Hay field School Board.
